Hi all! I'm new to the geocaching game but am already loving it! I'd like to meet some of the other panhandle cachers...not only to MEET you but also maybe to find people to go caching with? I need to learn some of the tricks! If there is nothing planned, would anyone like to maybe plan to meet for dinner at some point? Hope to meet you all soon... pam

Hi, geographer-pam. I've been a few days/weeks behind you in finding a few local caches.
I'd be interested in an event, but we're so few in Amarillo (witness the delay in this thread) that it'd be hard to get an event together anytime soon, I'd suppose. Event caches in Dallas and Houston don't quite cut it for me. :-(
It would be nice to meet you or other cachers, though. Better yet, it'd be nice to hook up with a person or team to hit the road for a day-trip of 100-200 miles in a random direction to find more remote caches (until I can take a proper multi-week road trip, that is). The 84 within 100 miles of Amarillo can quickly be exhausted once one has the caching bug. In contrast, my home area in California had 4663 ! caches within 100 miles.

Whooohooooo...the Maze will open 9/11 and close like 11/27 ... anyone up for an event, say mid-October? I'll do some organizing, it would be a shame to not turn this one into an annual event in honor of our very own Plaiddie!

Um, I'm new to Amarillo - is this like one of those big outdoor maze things? I've never done one, but I'm game; count me in.

Yes, it is wonderful ... this year its a Texas Tech Raiders maize ... and then they have a separate one for Halloween ... it's really fun -- I love the corn cannon! Keep a watch, I'll post a special events, when I set the date ... probably looks like Mid-Oct now.

How about let's actually get a meet here going. I am suggesting some saturday in June at the Midpoint Cafe in Adrian. There are caches in the area. The cafe has great burgers and wonderful pies!
