Does anyone have any experience with Terracaching.com?
I just found out about it tonight and am curious. There is a section on the TX Geocaching Forum about it and I see several participate in TX. I don't know if there is anything out here in our little part of paradise. From what I have read, they have a significantly different approach to caches - from approval to ratings than GC.
In order to use the site, you must be sponsored by two existing members. I'm just curious about the whole thing and if it is worthwhile.
Thanks for any info!!!

Yeah, I saw that, but couldn't think of anyone to 'sponsor' me - don't personally know any cachers out here yet. I suppose i don't have to, but I can't imagine having two TX ones for a GA cacher..... I'm having enough trouble right now getting back into regular caching! Things keep delaying me.

I registered on the site, which is a step before getting sponsored. I noticed on the members list that our old friend from Midland, the famous Char was a sponsored member, so I sent her a request to be a sponsor. In the meantime, I got four other unsolicited offers of sponsorship, literally from around the world. One was from WA, another from the Netherlands, and so on. Char signed on this morning, so I used her and one of the others to become sponsored.
It appears that sponsors don't have to have any previous link with those they sponsor. Once a "real" member, I found there is a list of new applicants awaiting sponsors on the site, so I guess some folks just make blanket offers to all.
If you decide to try it out, let me know and I'll sponsor you. I'll bet ole Char would as well.
Right now there doesn't seem to be any caches within a 100 miles of Hobbs, so I guess it will be a while before I try it out. I haven't taken the time to go fully through the site and figure it all out yet.
Cheers!

Hmm, well, why bother with the sponsorship business then, I wonder? Well, thank you. I may take you up on your kind offer. Oh the other hand, I may forget about it within the next few minutes....been doing that a lot lately.
