I decided to go benchmark hunting in Palo Duro Canyon yesterday. I came up 2/6 for the day and 4/8 forever (not including work, of course ;D). What do the rest of you average in benchmark hunting? - PF

Hmm, I know we've found two, but I can't remember how many we've looked for. I know there were some that aren't there anymore...maybe 3? 4? So less than half.

I have yet not to find one. So I guess I am batting 1000. Of course here in Big Spring, they haven't been disturbed because nobody is doing major re-construction. So far I have found 10. I wish I had time to look for more. Of course I wish I had time to do more of everthing. ;D

I think I've found about 20 for work, 2 or 3 of those being " destroyed". I suspect all the destroyed ones had odd mishaps without major construction/destruction going on. You'd be suprised what (or who) destroys survey markers. I probably won't go back to those with my gps for a claim because most were in the railroad row & they REALLY get pissed if you get on their land. -PF
